The Top 5 Things You Need to Know About Your Menstrual Cycle and T1D

The Top 5 Things You Need to Know About Your Menstrual Cycle and T1D

April 4, 2023
Today we are talking about one of my favorite educational topics, the menstrual cycle and its impact on type one diabetes. Female hormonal fluctuations have a huge impact on insulin sensitivity, but most menstruators are not directly taught this about T1D. In this episode, I’ll discuss: The main differences in women and men’s hormonal makeup and the impact that has on diabetes management.  The system I created for myself that has also served as a blueprint for supporting our clients at Risely to understand menstrual cycle and blood sugar connections. The top five things you need to learn to start figuring out how your hormonal patterns are showing up in your diabetes management.  PSA! This episode will not cover PCOS, perimenopause, or menopause. I wanted to keep this episode really central and focused on base-level foundational menstrual information. We are now enrolling for our Spring  2023 Decide and Conquer Group Coaching Program . From Emotional Meltdowns to Rising Up with 90%+ Time in Range: How this RN and T1D Made it Happen

March 28, 2023
I’m so excited for you to listen to today’s episode with my friend Bridget Ruter! Bridget works in healthcare as a Registered Nurse. She’s 27 years old and was diagnosed with type one at the age of six. Bridget is a graduate of Risley's Spring 2022 Decide and Conquer Group Coaching Program. This past year, she's completely shifted her mindset and relationship with diabetes from a place of isolation and frustration to community and acceptance. Before the DCB, Bridget had never been below a 6.8 A1C. Three months after, she lowered it to a 6.2, and now nine months later, she's below a 6.0 with 90%+ time in range! In today's episode, we go beneath these numbers and discuss... What was holding Bridget back from authentic transformation with her diabetes How she let go of hiding her diabetes from the world and started prioritizing herself  How Bridget found her correct rates and ratios  What it was like to re-learn the “basics” of T1D as a nurse We are now enrolling for our Spring  2023 Decide and Conquer Group Coaching Program .
