Our guest for today’s episode, Olly Rowland, has such an exciting and unique story to share!
When Olly was diagnosed with T1D at the age of 17, his doctors discouraged him from pursuing his dream job of being a stuntman and told him he should stick to working in an office. Instead of heeding this advice, Olly set out to prove them wrong.
Not only has Olly worked as a stuntman on major Hollywood films like Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America: The First Avenger, and Snow White and the Huntsman, but he also manages some of the top musicians in entertainment including Dolly Parton, Mya, KC & The Sunshine Band, Kenny G. and more!
Olly also documents his journey on The Diabetic Adventurer with the goal of helping young and newly diagnosed diabetics realize their diabetes doesn’t have to stop them from leading an extraordinary life.
In this jam-packed episode, we discuss...
- Overcoming the fear of judgment when giving T1D injections on Hollywood sets
- Adapting to unique and unpredictable environments during stunt work and adventure travel
- Transitioning from daily injections to Dexcom G6 and Omnipod 5
- Finding support for his type one through community and technology
- …and so much more!
