about

Jess is a National Board Certified health coach at Risely Health.

Jess is the Director of Coaching and Enrollment at Risely Health. She is a firm believer that strength, balance, mindset, and support are all necessary parts of creating a life you love.

Jess was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 15, and she struggled as she tried to adjust to a life that was radically different from what she had experienced so far. She was focused on not being any different than her peers and that mindset continued as she went to college, where her diabetes management was erratic and her endocrinologist said she was in “a rebellious phase.”

Then, her best friend received a diagnosis of cancer, and Jess turned her attention into being a caregiver, further ignoring diabetes and self-care.
After her friend’s recovery, Jess stopped to take a look at her own health and realized that it was finally time to take charge of her life. She started to make small changes to her eating and exercise habits, and let diabetes be at the center more often.

Now, Jess is a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach and a certified personal trainer. She is passionate about helping individuals thrive with diabetes, especially those who are interested in experiencing a healthy T1D pregnancy.

Playing a role in Risely Health’s vision of giving unconditional support to real people and disrupting the healthcare system is what drives Jess today. She loves her work, is a proud mom, and is taking care of her diabetes. Her ultimate goal is to empower others to live the lives that they’re meant to live and help them get there.

Jess lives in New Jersey and dreams of traveling to all of the continents and riding in a hot air balloon. You can often find her swinging kettlebells, doing yoga, hiking, or training for half marathons.

“Now,” she says, “I feel like I can take on anything.”

WHAT t1Ds Are SAYING

Here’s how graduates feel on the other side.

From day 1 of coaching it was such a relief to find out that someone understood the full picture. I felt like I had a real champion in Jess. And she was great at recognizing what it was I was feeling and needing, even when I couldn’t find ways to verbalize it.

After working with Jess, I’m proud I made the decision to do this program and really commit to myself and my health! Jess really worked to understand my lifestyle and empowered me to make decisions, identify trends, and understand my body. I lowered my A1C from 8.5 to 7.4 and feel so much more knowledgable and in control!

Having T1D for over 20 years, I was feeling out of control, and unsure how to optimize my management. Working with Jess made me feel so much more comfortable with my diabetes. Having someone who knows the struggles is also so comforting and thanks to this program I am managing my diabetes better than I ever was before.

Prior to working with Jess, I struggled to accept that my blood sugars didn't make me a "good" or "bad" person. Coaching with Jess has given me the ability to make space for myself and to be okay with the fact that I wont be 100% all the time. My sugars have also been consistently lower and my confidence has greatly increased throughout working with her!
